MEET THE DOCTORS

Dr. Susan Reimbold is a board-certified optometrist. She provides personalized eye care with a special emphasis in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease along with a luxury optical experience to help you find the unique eyewear fashion that speaks to you. She also has extensive knowledge of reading disorders and learning differences to benefit parents of patients struggling in school.

She has been in private practice in the Atlanta area since 1997. She was determined to create an office that not only provided exceptional medical care but also luxury eyewear because it seemed to her that it was always either medical care or fashion eyewear and not both under one roof. She has found starting Reimbold Eye Group to be fascinating, having to master almost two completely different businesses (concierge type medical practice fused with luxury fashion eyewear). She never gives up on a challenge and this has definitely been a challenge!

After earning a genetics degree from the University of Georgia she went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. There, she earned her doctorate degree with honors and was selected as clinician of the year for her class and Beta Sigma Kappa. After graduatio,n she was honored by being selected to complete a rigorous ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center / Johns Hopkins University’s Wilmer Eye Institute. There, she specialized in the management of ocular disease, refractive surgery, glaucoma, retinopathy, and ocular effects of systemic disease. She has been published and has lectured at many conferences including the International American Academy of Optometry meeting in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Reimbold has conducted clinical research for dry eye and glaucoma studies at Coastal Research Center in Roswell, GA, and she is working hard to find the time to develop a dyslexia center to service all the therapies and needs of children with reading disorders including; parent education, occupational therapy, educational therapy, vision therapy, speech pathology and advocacy, all under one roof. Their goal will be to preserve self esteem, focusing on each child’s unique gifts while strengthening their weaknesses. She also developed and taught a science lab: S.T.E.M. Prepared Labs to promote a love for science in young children to be used in Dyslexia Therapy Centers of Atlanta,

She lives in Cumming with her husband and their two children, who she homeschooled. Her son, Harrison, has now graduated from the University of Alabama and will start a Master's in taxation and intern at PWC. Her daughter, Avery, will be attending NSU Optometry School in Ft Lauderdale, FL.

Fun fact! Dr. Susan played snare drum in the Redcoat Band at UGA and Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps and enjoys hiking, camping and being outdoors.

Alisha Niswonger, OD

Dr. Alisha Rose Niswonger grew up near Chattanooga, TN. Upon graduating from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and Chemistry, she moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry.

During her graduate studies she focused on a variety of specialties, including dry eye, specialty lenses, ocular disease, pediatrics, and primary care. She strives to keep current with all optometric advances in order to provide the best care for each of her patients. While in Chicago, she volunteered with the annual “Opening Eyes” screenings for the Special Olympics, instructed a blind adaptive climbing team, and participated in medical trips to Kenya and Haiti.

Dr. Niswonger joined Reimbold Eye Group in 2020 and feels blessed to be a part of such a special, patient-focused team. Newly married and settled in Atlanta, on the weekends, you’ll find her rock climbing, cycling the Greenway, and exploring the North Georgia mountains.
